Holy crap, I'm so sorry! I didn't realize I had a message from 3 months ago! Well, I don't have any plans to update my story, unfortunately. However, I've passed it on to BrickfilmNut who plans on working on it when he's not busy. Besides that, I'm no longer working on the story and I'm instead working on a more original concept by myself. I'm sorry if you were looking forward to this, but I've moved on from WoL.
This is BFN. XD I wasn't using my account for reasons related to our previous discussion, but I probably should have, er, mentioned that, I guess. Sorry. XD
Anyway, yeah, just was curious if you'd done anything on your new story over the spring break. I've managed to work a bit on WOL, but not as much as I wanted due to outdoor activities and summer work. Hopefully I'll have something in a week or two that I'm confident sharing.
Also, if we're talking anyway, might as well mention BIONICLE's second cancellation. :-/ I'm not really disappointed in the sense that I wanted this theme to continue, because I pretty much tuned out after the first wave. But I'm so disappointed that LEGO could get themes like CHIMA to work, yet they bring back one of their most legendary properties and screws so much up they can't even meet their original plan of three years. I could rant for paragraphs on that, but I'm curious what your thoughts on that are. :P
This is the first time I hear about Bionicle's second cancelation. Eh, I honestly stopped caring after a while. I mean, while I thought it was a good idea to reboot the series, they didn't aim to give it a story that was as interesting as the last series. The sets were still cool, though. If anything, I guess I'm pissed over the fact that now it's unlikely they'll make sets of other characters besides the Nuva and Makuta. A reboot of the Inika and Piraka would've been awesome.
As for my new story, I've been working on it and coming up with how it'll be structured as well as what characters will be featured. I'll update you on it as soon as I get a few chapters down.
Yeah, the story was really hard to care about. I heard Journey to One is good, but I don't have Netflix and nothing except the ending sounded that interesting. The sets were definitely great (at least wave one; I didn't buy any after that), but apparently that's not enough.
Though I sort of prefer the Inika/Metru/etc. myself, I'd also just be fine with new characters that are more interesting. G1 constantly kept me interested without resorting to old characters (i.e. 2009). I was hoping we'd get to see more original characters besides the Nuva in G2, and we arguably got a few, but alas.... Not that I wouldn't personally love a Inika/Piraka reboot, I totally agree there. :P It's just that I think BIONICLE could still work without bringing them back, so long as they create good new characters. Honestly, G2's kind of increased my respect for ol' Gregory F, lol.
Alright, cool. How do you plan to post them? Wikia's probably not the best platform due to the whole licensing stuff. I'm personally thinking I'll just use Pastebin to share WOL developments.
I watched a couple of the episodes since I have Netflix. Eh, it just exists to me. The animation's pretty interesting since the characters are cg and a bit celshaded while the backgrounds and elemental attacks are 2d, but the story is just generic and plays it to safe. The Toa are one dimensional in their personalities which sucks because they make up about 80-90% of the characters in this show. There's barely anyone else in this show besides Akimu being the generic wise mentor, Makuta being the generic main antagonist that hides behind the shadows, and Umarak being the edgy "I'm a servant to no one!" bounty hunter that's helping Makuta because... I honestly forgot. I think it was money or power or "the thrill of the hunt" or some shit. I haven't seen the ending, but now I'm curious as to why you find it interesting.
As for my story, idk where I'll be posting it. I'm going to show it to some friends first, most likely I'll email it to you. I'm doing it in the form of a script since it's just overall simple to start with before writing a book.
Ah, okay, neat. I'm not really using my email account right now, so let me know when you send it, otherwise I'll miss it. :P
Your JtO opinion seems to be the consensus I've seen. As to why I find it interesting, I guess it's largely how unexpected it feels. I genuinely didn't expect the Toa to sacrifice themselves. I also genuinely didn't expect there to be anything greater to the lore than the "Prophecy of Heroes", and since the "Prophecy of Heroes" was so unsatisfying anyway, seeing it downgraded is good. Gali's adventure kind of brings to mind Takua's in Mangaia during MNOG. Also, the metaphor of the Toa giving up their place in the world to further the bigger picture amused me. Because essentially, BIONICLE's sacrificing itself for the "great destiny" of LEGO's business plan. :P The ending's not exactly mind-blowing, but it's better than it could have been.
